Island

In the past, overthrown heads of state such as Napoleon were banished to islands. Criminals were also held captive on islands and pirates hunted for treasure on them. Today, as then, islands serve as isolation. However, the reason today is the isolation from the stressful everyday life. We flee to tropical beaches to escape the rut. I have also visited some dream islands like Koh Rong Samloem, Magnetic Island or Koh Chang. These included the largest sand island in the world and land masses in the Great Barrier Reef. An absolute highlight was the visit to an archipelago in the Mekong, where the river is incredible 14 kilometers wide.
