A national park serves to protect ecologically valuable and scenic areas. It is only subject to natural developments and is protected from human interference. In addition, such a park should be available for research, recreation, and educational work. Tourism finances protective measures and makes people more aware of nature. There are around 4,000 official national parks worldwide. Almost 300 in Europe and 16 in Germany. The largest is located in Greenland. I have also been allowed to visit many national parks and was particularly enthusiastic about the Tongariro NP, the Tatra NP and the Cat Ba NP.
