Saxon Switzerland
Saxon Switzerland is located in the German area of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, while the part in the Czech Republic is called Bohemian Switzerland. As the name suggests, it is a low mountain range mainly made of sandstone. These rock formations along the Elbe offer visitors a spectacular natural spectacle. Therefore, hiking, climbing and mountain biking are popular activities in the national park. The Schrammsteine, Affensteine or the Lichtenhainer waterfall are popular travel destinations. However, Saxon Switzerland is world famous for the Bastei Bridge. No viewpoint in Germany is visited more often. Another highlight is the Königstein Fortress, the largest mountain fortress in Europe. In summary, I was deeply impressed by the unique landscape and I will definitely travel to the south-eastern part of Saxony one more time.
